Some characteristics of Islam in contemporary Russia

This article investigates the characteristic features of Muslim life in a contemporary Russia. The conclusion is that Islam-phobic discourse prevails over Islam Studies, Political correctness in the field of Islam focuses on the struggle with it; Muslims cooperate with alter-globalists. Russia seeks to represent itself as a friend of Muslim world, supporting some of its anti-American and anti-globalistic aspirations, Chechen wars in Russia actualize the discourse of Muslim extremism, phobias of the total Islamization of Russia, pan-Islamism and the global jihad.
